To facilitate the proposed higher education reforms in Albania by providing examples of successful and unsuccessful models of governance and departmental management in relation to university autonomy from European Higher Education. |

Brief description of activities conducted |
Albanian universities are facing great change following recent proposals of new laws to modernise universities. The seminar provided examples of successful and unsuccessful models of governance and departmental management in European universities which were presented within a benchmarking framework of university autonomy. |
Participants targeted |
The audience comprised about 45-50 participants, including rectors, pro-rectors, professors and deans of Albanian universities. Members of the Albanian Ministry of Education; ERASMUS + office staff.

Main ‘take-aways’ from the perspective of the expert |
The participants were given a benchmarking system and models based on EUA research across European HE, by which they would be able to compare and measure levels of autonomy within a university.
