The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in partnership with ASCAME, will organize a Business Forum in Cairo, Egypt, on 18th June 2019, under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Egypt. The Business Forum will focus on two trade issues of paramount importance to the economic integration and development of the Mediterranean region – market access and e-commerce.
The UfM Business Forum will bring together public and private sector representatives to identify strategies for the removal of existing market access restrictions, targeting issues such as tariff and non-tariff barriers, quality infrastructure, market information, the costs of trade, rules of origin and the development of meaningful linkages between relevant market players. It will count on the participation of Ministers, senior government representatives, private sector representatives, civil society and international organizations.
